10.30am

Balerno Service

Around 200 adults gather together on a Sunday morning at 10:30am in Balerno High School for a service which includes contemporary worship, a relevant talk from the Bible and dedicated children’s and youth groups.

We spend time together as church family after the service with tea and coffee.

We’d love to see you!

FAQs

  • St Mungo’s Church is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) you can find out more about the SEC here.

  • The service is about 1 hour 30 minutes.

  • We have about 100 children and young people across our groups every Sunday and we’d love for your children to get involved too. These groups run parallel to the worship service, which is aimed at adults, and have a combination of games, worship, teaching from the Bible and small groups all designed around the age and stage of the children and young people. You can find out more about our awesome Sunday 0-18 groups and what they do mid-week by clicking the following links: St Mungo’s Pre-School // St Mungo’s Primary // St Mungo’s Youth

  • We have a band who lead us in an extended time of sung worship (20-30 minutes). The band usually consists of drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboard and vocalist, with occasional solo instruments, eg. violin. Most of the songs we sing have been written within the last 20yrs, although we always start by singing a traditional hymn together. The service also includes ‘liturgy’, a set of corporate prayers which we all speak out together by following the words on the big screens as we are led by the service leader. We have a talk from the Bible, which is around 25-30minutes long and often includes an invitation to respond to what was shared. This can include personal prayer ministry.

  • There's no pressure to dress up smart or wear your 'Sunday best'.  We just want you to be comfortable!

  • We don’t take an offering as part of our services. If you would like to contribute financially to St Mungo’s Church then you can find all the information here.

  • There is tea, coffee after the service. This is free of charge and a great way to get to know each other and spend time together as church family. Near the refreshments is a welcome point where you can ask questions and we can listen to your story and why you’re visiting church today.

  • St Mungo’s is a word and Spirit church, who believes that the Holy Spirit works in our lives today. Personal prayer ministry is the invitation for our trained ministry team to pray for you, they will do this by asking if it is OK to put their hand on your shoulder and will then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to come and fill you. This is entirely optional and there is no pressure or expectation on people to come forward for prayer ministry.

  • We record our 10:30am Balerno Sunday service and upload it to our Youtube channel ‘as live’ on a Sunday afternoon.
