We needed a good level of French before we started work in Chad. Evelyn is bilingual in French and English, so David focused on French study full time during our stay in Belgium. Then, once our Team support raising was completed, we did a 3-month Africa Orientation Course in Cameroon (September 2004) before we took up an assignment in Chad.
Whilst in Chad, David did computer support work and was involved in training Chadian colleagues. Evelyn was involved in literacy programs and training. We learnt Chadian Arabic from French during our first year in Chad |
