Tearfund is an evangelical Christian development and relief agency that has involvement in around 100 countries worldwide.  It seeks to apply the principal of ‘Integral Mission’ by addressing peoples’ spiritual, emotional and physical needs.  As a general rule, Tearfund does not have any projects of its own, but responds to requests for help from Christian partners who are based in some of the world’s poorest areas.  Help is usually given in the form of grants but Tearfund may also pay for training or consultancy.  Personnel from the UK are usually only sent when local professionals cannot be found to meet the need.
