Affirming Our Faith St Mungo's First SundaysThe First Sunday series from St Mungo's offer a warm welcome to those who are not yet Christians. All the issues are discussed in a gracious, positive and sensitive way rather
than in a confrontational manner. This series looks at the personal character attributes we all want to gain and gives practical teaching on how we can develop them. Each talk looks at how we can overcome some of the character issues that can hold us back as people. Aiming to be realistic, positive and practical, these talks will help you make progress in these areas. If having listened to them you want to talk through some of the issues further, you can contact Pat Banfill, one of our pastoral staff. These talks will help you if you want to work on one of these areas yourself or you may know someone who wants to use these talks for the same purpose. Talk No. Title Speaker Facing Life's ChallengesThe current series Introductory information will follow Talk No. Title Speaker Teaching SeriesThe teaching at St Mungo's aims to be Bible based, practical and relevant. Some series are thematic and some work their way through different books of the Bible. Our aim in the teaching is that people deepen their relationship with God, mature as Christians and learn how to live out the Christian faith. Listening to these talks can help remind you of teaching that you have received, fill in the gaps from what you might have missed or enable you to work on your Christian growth and development at home. You could listen to these talks in the car or you could work through them at home taking notes and looking at the Bible passages. Before listening to these talks, it is a good idea to pray for God to speak to you by his Spirit . After your study, it's a good idea to write down one or two main points you want to remember or put into practice. Using these talks in this way could have a major impact in your life because
you will be opening your life up to God and his Spirit. When we become Christians we start a brand new life. This series takes us through the teaching in 1 John about what is involved in living this new life. You may never have realized before all the good things that come with being a Christian. You will find out about some of them here along with some of the responsibilities that are involved too. This series is particularly suitable for new Christians. These talks will help you see that you are set free from the past and will build your confidence for your new future. Talk No Title Speaker Radical Christian LivingThis series takes us through the Old Testament Book of Malachi. There we encounter some common attitudes that prevent people seeking and serving God wholeheartedly. As we see how Malachi challenged these attitudes in his day, we learn much about how we can challenge the same attitudes in our own lives. If any of these attitudes are issues for you or if you want to deepen your commitment to God, you will find these talks helpful. Talk No. Title Speaker Affirming Our FaithThis series, based on the Apostles Creed, takes us through the basic Christian beliefs and spells out their practical consequences for today. The Apostles Creed is one of the great historic statements of faith of the Christian churches and is affirmed by all the main Christian churches across the world. A great series to get an overview of the Christian faith and to see how Christian doctrine impacts thinking and behaviour in the real world. If you have become a Christian recently you will find this series helpful in giving you a deeper understanding of the main teachings of the Church. If you have been a Christian for a while, you will find this a good refresher course on the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. I Believe Talk No Title Speaker God's Vision for the ChurchThese days the church attracts bad press and has often failed to live up to God's ideals. In this series we look at what God's vision for the church is and give practical teaching on how we can individually and corporately make that vision a reality. The first half of the series is based on Ephesians 4 and the second half on the St Mungo's Foundational Values. If you want to know what the church is supposed to be like or want to know how you can play your part, this is a series for you. If you are a member of St Mungo's your contribution is really appreciated and we hope you will find this series inspiring and motivating. Talk No Title Speaker Barriers to GodWe all want to get closer to God but there are many attitudes that can get in the way - both conscious and unconscious. This series, based on some of incidents and teachings from Jesus' life, exposes some of these barriers and shows us how we can overcome them. These talks flowed out of Malcolm's October 2000 trip to Toronto and have been very popular. If you want a more intimate relationship with God, this is the series for you. These talks can be taken separately and challenge us to open our lives to God and his Spirit. Talk No Title Speaker ElijahOverview on way.
