The Bible is still on the best seller list but it must be the best seller that is least read. There
are many reasons for this, one being the fact that the Bible is not like any
other book. It is laid out
differently, it is from another culture, and it talks about events that happened
a long time ago. Even in modern
English it can be difficult to understand. At
St Mungo’s the inspiration and authority of the Bible is one of the
foundational values and as Christians we believe that “Every part of Scripture
is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our
rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.” (2
Timothy 3:16 - The Message) This
course is designed to help you get more out of reading the Bible. The
Aim of this course is: To know how the Bible is made up and how to read and understand the Bible. The
Objectives for this course are that by the end of it you will: ¨ Understand how the Bible is made up ¨
Have a basic understanding of Bible translation theories ¨
Know the different genre that make up the Bible ¨
Know basic Bible study tools ¨
Be able to confidently read the Bible for yourself |
