VISION SUNDAY AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
10:30am Sunday 20 January 2019
Please make it a priority to attend this special occasion in the church year and hear Malcolm cast the vision for 2019.
Our congregations will meet as usual in both Balerno High School and St Margaret’s Academy at 10:30 and join together by video link for the AGM and Vision Talk.
The AGM will include the appointment of Vestry Office Bearers. The Vestry (our Church Board) oversees the financial and practical stewardship of St Mungo’s, provides support to Malcolm and the staff, and carries out the responsibilities of Charity Trustees under Scottish Law. Each AGM, two Vestry members step down (unless one must serve longer to cover a vacant post) and two new members are nominated as candidates to succeed them by the current Vestry. Each person present at the AGM who is on the communicants’ roll (i.e. a regular worshipper and 16 or over) will be invited to affirm the appointment of the nominated candidates. If appointed, the new members will serve on Vestry for 3 years.
Vestry’s nominated candidates are:
Brodie Petrie: Brodie has been at St Mungo’s for 14 years. Mum to two girls, Brodie is a Little Wonders team leader and has previously served on the hosting team, Vestry and led a prayer cell. A qualified accountant, Brodie and her husband Rod run their own bookkeeping and accounting practice.
Chris Sawyer: Chris has been at St Mungo’s since coming as a student in 1997. He has served on the worship and tech teams for over 20 years and leads a house group with his wife Emma. Chris is Director of ICR Vets, leading a team of 38 people across 3 branches. Chris and Emma also have two girls.
Alison Wilson and Steve Denning will stand for re-election as People’s Warden and Lay Representative to the Diocese respectively and Francis Cummings has been nominated to succeed Ollie Clegg as Alternate Lay Representative. Francis has been at St Mungo’s for 11 years, serving as a house group leader, worship leader, on Vestry and on the Spirit Café, Mission Advice and Pioneers teams. Francis is married to Lindsey and they have three children. A musician by training, Francis is Head of the Junior Conservatoire at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Further information, including the annual report and accounts, will be available at the AGM. Please direct any questions to Derek Thomson (Vestry Secretary) or any current member of the Vestry.
