Why
is it that when you get a new washing machine, it comes with instructions in
fourteen different languages. When you have a child, what do you get? Nothing! Being
a parent is one of the few things in life that you don’t need a qualification
for, yet it’s an incredible challenge which sometimes requires every ounce of
your energy.
Whether
your children are this big or much smaller, then this course might be for you! This
course will enable us to; ·
Get
to know ourselves better as parents and build on our strengths ·
Share
with other parents and so discover that we are often not alone in the issues we
face ·
Discover
ways of enhancing and building on the relationship we already have with our
children ·
Develop
skills that will support us as parents ·
Have
fun… and carry that into our relationship with our children The
course is based on the Parenttalk Parenting Course published by Care for the
Family which features Rob Parsons and Steve Chalke Programme 1.
Being
ourselves and loving our children, exploring the possibilities and dilemmas. 2.
Looking,
listening and talking. Getting to know our children and improving our
communication 3.
Boundaries
and battles. Choosing wisely and handling conflict in a positive way 4.
Letting
go and dealing with ‘Big Issues’, for our children’s age group Each
session will use video material to prompt discussion. The way the discussion
goes will be very much determined by the issues raised within the group. Each
participant will be able to contribute by making constructive comments and
problem solving. Each
discussion will be facilitated in a way which enables the whole group’s needs
to be met as far as possible. |
