New Term, New Courses
There are a host of new Courses starting up over the next few months. See what’s there for you.
Christian Theology & Doctrine course: 6 Thursday evenings from 14 October (8pm Ministry centre)–Led by Malcolm Round and Jim Bewick., using dvds and small groups.
S.H.A.P.E. course. Five Tuesday mornings from 9.30am to 11am, 5 Oct to 9 Nov. Work through a series of challenges to help you to find out how your passions, temperament, talents, experinece and giftings make you into the person you are and how to use your SHAPE for God’s kingdom. led by Pat Banfill
Parenting Teens course: find out what are the key issues for teenagers today and develop skills in being the best parent you can be. Thursdays Oct 28 to 2 Dec, 7.30pm in Balerno High School.
The Alpha course: a practical introduction to the Christian faith and an opportunity to explore the meaning of life. Thursday evenings 23 Sept to 9 Dec. 7.30pm in St Mungo’s Church building, Ladycroft, Balerno. This course also runs in the spring and summer terms.
CAP money course. Learn to manage your money, live your life! Learn a simple system to help you budget, save and plan for the future, putting you in control of your finances. Thursdays, 30 Sept to 14 Oct. 7.30pm Balerno High School.
Youth Alpha: starts Monday 6 September from 7.00pm-9.00pm at the church building and is open to all S1-S6.
Youth Freedom in Christ: starts Friday 10th September from 1.00pm-3.00pm for S3-S6. More information and sign up sheets are available on the youth website (www.stmungosyouth.com).
And after Christmas…..
Being a Good Dad, not a perfect one: run by Dads for Dads (no Mums involved!)– learn practical skills, have time to think and find out that being a dad can be fun, for all age dads, step dads etc. Thursdays 24 Feb to 24 Mar. 7.30pm Balerno High School.
Parenting under 5’s: helps you build a strong family, set boundaries, express love and handle emotions. Thursdays from 5 May 7.30pm in Balerno High School
The Marriage Course: how to build a healthy marriage and relationship that lasts a lifetime. For couples who live together or are married. No group discussions! Thursdays from 3 Feb. 7.30pm in Balerno High School.

Balerno Music Festival Family Ceilidh Friday 8 October 7.30pm, Currie High School. St Mungo’s are once again running this fun family ceilidh and tickets are available from Emma Galloway or Lesley Penny.
New Prayer Cell – with a focus on Families with children who have special needs. Meeting on Monday evenings from 6.30pm till 7.30pm in Currie. Please contact Alison McNair.

Business Alpha: An Alternative Alpha course for those who cannot make Thursday evenings in Balerno, (St Mungo’s course starts Sept 23) is run at lunchtimes in the City Centre by Business Alpha starts mid September. See www.businessalphaedinburgh.com.
Youth Alpha (4 Monday evenings from 25 Oct) needs a cook – contact Wendy Brown if you could do this.
