The Listening Ear
If you go to Balerno High School you can access this service through your Guidance Teacher. The Listening Ear is a safe place to talk confidentially about anything, often to do with home, family, friends, school work, who you are or who you want to be. After a first meeting, we usually meet for four more weeks and then work out whether to continue or to finish. Your parents may be invited to meet with us at the start, but there in no ongoing feedback to them.

Model Railway Days
Do you like driving Double O trains? In the company of like minded people (mostly male)? Twice a year a large layout is built and anyone who comes along can drive a train and enjoy a day lasting from 2pm to 9pm! Children under 12 years must bring an adult with them, and all ages from grandads down are welcome.

Dean Park Primary School
Recent support for our local primary school includes:
A Classroom Makeover
6 cans of paint, 9 volunteers, 5 days of work – 1 classroom at Dean Park Primary School transformed. As part of being good news to the community, a group of volunteers from St Mungo’s prepared and painted a classroom at the local primary school in Balerno.
Colin Russell, the head teacher commented, “Thank you for the first class job that you and your helpers did with regard to the P5/6 class. This has been an excellent link between school and community and shows what can be achieved when initiative is allowed to flourish”.
We look forward to future opportunities to be good news in the community.
