Week Commencing 20 June 2010

Andrew & Karen Bennett’s leaving gift – PLEASE NOTE: The tax office have changed their initial advice and are now stating that the planned collection for Andrew & Karen would be taxable.  We are therefore no longer organising a collection through the Church.  We would however encourage you to make a personal gift directly to the Bennett’s, if you wish, and send to their home address, 45 Malleny Avenue, Balerno, Edinburgh, EH14 7EJ. Thank you.

Minis: (St Mungo’s group for babies/toddlers and their carers) will be having a fun morning with a bouncy castle on Wednesday 23 June from 10am until 1pm in the church building.  They will then take a break until August.

Youth needs: more volunteers are needed for the youth ministry for the autumn.  We need 6 leaders for Friday night youth clubs and 3 leaders for Sunday morning discipleship groups.  If you’d like to get involved please get in touch with Helen Crow.

GoKids Holiday Team: please could all outstanding replies concerning availability for holiday cover for the GoKids’ summer programme be sent to Wendy Brown by Monday 21June to allow us to complete teams and distribute material.

Clan Gathering: Christian conference for all ages in St Andrews 24 – 30 July. See leaflets on the info tables for more details.  If you cannot go for the whole week you can book in for individual days in advance too.  Speakers include Jackie Pullinger, John & Carol Arnott. See www.new-wine-scotland.org.

Congratulations:  to Malcolm who is now a Canon in recognition of his leadership duties within the Diocese. He is now Revd Canon Malcolm Round!

Prayers

Please pray for the 18 participants finishing the CAP Money course this week: that everyone would have found it useful, that looking at the truth in how they handle money would help them to be better informed about their finances and to be able to make decisions in line with their goals for managing their money.

Please pray for the people who have finished the Making Sense of Work course, that they would have a new understanding of how God sees work and their place in it.

Please pray for all housegroup members and leaders as they come to the end of another session; that they would know God’s direction and blessing in their lives, and for groups where changes are taking place that each person will know God’s encouragement through the transition.

Please pray for Andrew and Karen Bennett and family as they grieve the loss of Andrew’s father who passed away earlier this week.
